Mobisol celebrated its 1,000th solar home system (SHS) installation in Rwanda with a grand celebratory event in Nyamata, Bugesera.
Attendees of the installation and the celebration included the CEO of MTN Rwanda Mr Ebenezer Asante, who has been a valuable and reliable partner since Mobisol started its operations in Rwanda. MTN partnered with Mobisol to enable their customers to effortlessly pay via MTN Mobile Money. After successfully installing 999 solar home systems in Rwanda, Mobisol decided to donate the 1000th solar home system to the orphanage Abajambo in Nyamata, which is run by Catholic nuns and is home to 36 children of up to five years. A 200W system together with 29 lights was installed by Mobisol, which improves the living conditions of the orphanage in the most energy efficient way. As a highlight of the event MTN’s CEO Mr. Asante switched on the lights of the orphanage after the installation.
The celebration continued with a reception at the Mobisol Rwanda Ltd. headquarters in Nyamata, where Mobisol’s partners, customers and employees came together to celebrate the extraordinary achievements to date. The event showcased Mobisol’s commitment to affordable, safe and environmental-friendly rural electrification in Rwanda.
Having officially launched Mobisol Rwanda Ltd. in May 2014 in Nyamata/Bugesera, the company has been rapidly expanding its activities in rural areas which are lacking on-grid energy supply and has already reached 1,000 customers. Besides Bugesera, Mobisol extended its activities to another five districts and will open a new Regional Hub in Rwamagana in September to reach 50,000 households within the next three years. To date, Mobisol has sucessfully installed over 7,000 systems in East Africa.
