Mobisol participated in the Africa Launch of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) Decade by showcasing their sustainable solar electrification model at the official launch of the initiative in Rwanda.
Mobisol underlined their full commitment to the SE4ALL initiative’s goals with the donation and installation of a 200Wp Mobisol solar home system and bright LED lights at the official field trip to Gicumbi Health Centres in Northern Rwanda on Sunday, 18th of May and through their active participation in the official launch of the SE4ALL Decade at the African Development Bank’s Annual Meetings in Kigali on Monday, the 19th May 2014.
The initiative’s focus on the Importance of Energy on Women and Children’s Health was displayed by an official field trip to Gicumbi Health Centres in rural Northern Rwanda.
Participants included the Special Representative of the Secretary General on SE4ALL, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella; the Honorable Minister of State in Charge of Energy and Water, Isumbingabo Emma Françoise; a team representing the Rwandan Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) and a delegation from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Infrastructure, as well as a delegation from Mobisol. The Mobisol Rwanda staff demonstrated Mobisol’s electrification model on site and contributed to the improvement of the facilities’ premises by donating and installing a 200Wp Mobisol solar home system and over a dozen much-needed lights in the maternity room, pharmacy and other locations.
Mobisol’s General Manager Thomas Gottschalk additionally spoke and demonstrated the company’s business model and vision at the official launch of the SE4ALL Decade at the African Development Bank Group’s Annual Meetings in Kigali on Monday, 19th May.
Mr. Gottschalk stated: “Only 14% of the rural population in Sub-Saharan Africa has access to electricity – we are profoundly convinced that off-grid electrification will play a very prominent role in electrifying those households. Mobisol provides clean, robust and reliable electricity backed by extended warranty and service, an affordable payment plan and capacity building in project countries. The success and replicability of Mobisol’s sustainable and comprehensive electrification model is as of today already being proven in Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya. In the years to come, we aspire to scale rapidly in order to massively improve peoples’ quality of life while stimulating socioeconomic development and contributing to global environmental protection.“
